Become A Volunteer

lend a hand

Everyone can volunteer at WHRC,  there is always something to do.

WHRC could not exist without our volunteers. By volunteering at WHRC, you are taking an active part in our rescue work and a critical stand against abuse and mistreatment of wild horses. You will help to ensure a dignified life for our horses and help sustain America’s wild heritage – the Mustang.

The Work

Everyone can volunteer at WHRC, and there is always something to do. Volunteering at our center can be as labor intensive or relaxed as you wish. As a volunteer, you will help with daily chores such as mucking stalls, daily maintenance of the horses, and infrastructural improvements to stables. You will also assist in real hands-on rehabilitation work with wild horses.

As a volunteer to our rescue and rehabilitation center, you will get up close and personal with our charismatic rescued horses and assist in real hands-on rehabilitation work. We guarantee you that this encounter with horses will be like no other horse experience you have ever had.

The majority of our horses come from abusive environments, and when they first arrive they are often genuinely afraid of people. As a volunteer, you will play a critical part in helping these horses understand that not all people are bad.
